About Angie Valdez

Angie Valdez is a lifelong Kern County resident with deep roots in the community she calls home. Raised by immigrant parents, Angie grew up in Lamont, California, where she attended local public schools and learned early the importance of hard work, family, and community.

She continued her education close to home, graduating from Bakersfield College and California State University, Bakersfield.

Angie’s professional experience has taken her through agriculture, retail, education, and social work. Each of these experiences has given her a different perspective on the people and challenges that shape Kern County. Today, as a social worker, she works directly with members of the community, helping individuals and families navigate difficult circumstances and connect with the resources they need.

Her experiences have shaped how she approaches public service. Angie believes that effective local government starts with listening to residents, asking questions, understanding the facts, and being willing to consider different solutions.

Why Angie Is Running

Angie is running for Bakersfield City Council because she believes Bakersfield deserves thoughtful, transparent, and responsible leadership.

She wants to focus on the issues that directly affect residents: public safety, responsible budgeting, and infrastructure. That includes asking difficult questions about how city funds are being used, exploring available funding opportunities and alternatives, and considering the long-term impact of major decisions on Bakersfield families.

Angie isn't running to make promises she cannot keep. She is running to listen, learn, work with others, and help find practical solutions for the community she calls home.

Her approach is simple: listen, ask questions, find solutions, and keep Bakersfield the priority.
